7 Positive Traits Of A Person To Be Successful (Students)
Do you know any positive traits of a person that makes them successful in life?
For me, I didn’t know until I begin searching for it. As a student, I had limited resources. So, I had to rely on books.
I watched videos that speak about autobiographies of famous people. One such example would be Steve Jobs.
I would contemplate on how they live their life, what character they possessed, and developed over time.
Today, I will share with you the seven positive character traits.
7 Positive Traits Of A Person To Be Successful For Students
Positive Trait #1 – Perseverance
As a student, there are many challenges that you will face.
You have peer pressure on one side, failing an exam, not good in a particular subject, or even family issues at home on the other side.
The list goes on and on.
These are all hardships that you face in your life. So much so that they overwhelm you but, I need you to persevere. Never give up.
If you are not good at a subject, keep trying. Find those who aced that and learn from them. Keep trying till you succeed.
If you got back your results and failed, don’t be too hard on yourself. Not everyone is good at the first try.
Most fail first before they succeed. Deal with your failures. Acknowledge that you have failed and move on. Move on to the next step.
Don’t stay at the same spot for a long time. I want you to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Positive Trait #2 – Humility
Let’s admit it. We are all humans. No matter how perfect we think we are, we will surely make mistakes.
It could be big or small. A mistake is still a mistake.
Whenever an elder or even your friends gives you constructive criticisms, accept them.
We may be defensive at first. At this point, we all know that’s our ego acting up.
Try to let your guard down.
Once you let your guard down, it would pretty much help you. When you allow their constructive criticism in, you are allowing change in yourself.
A positive change.
To help myself put the ego away, I constantly remind myself that I’m never perfect. And there is always room for improvement.
Positive Trait #3 – Open-mindedness
The thing about being in the school education system is that it forces you to be closed-minded. I felt that we didn’t have many ways to explore other means to do a particular subject.
If an idea comes from another source, it will be pushed aside by teachers.
It seems like there is only a one-way approach.
Even though it’s not accepted, it’s better to be open to a lot of ideas. When you go into the real world, there isn’t one solution that will fix it all.
You will need to gather several ideas and test them out.
No matter how outrageous the idea is, accept them. You will have the time to consider and think it through.
Positive Trait #4 – Self-reflection
It’s easy to carry on our daily life without even stopping for a while to ask yourself what you can do better for the day, weeks, or even months.
It’s not wrong to always keep moving forward. But what if we move in the wrong direction?
And what if I told you that you only need to set aside 5 – 10 minutes of your weekend to reflect on your week to change your life.
Seems possible? You know it best.
It’s just a short amount of time. But I guarantee you that it will change the entire motion of your life. As a result, your next 1 – 2 years won’t be the same as the previous years.
So, reflect on your life. Ask yourself:
- Am I doing it wrongly and how can I make it better?
- Which areas do I need to improve on so that my life would change?
- What bad habits I need to stop.
- And what good habits I need to adopt?
Positive Trait #5 – Willingness To Learn
I’m sure you have heard the saying, “curiosity kills the cat.”
What if I tell you that curiosity makes you a wiser and knowledgeable person by helping you develop your thinking capabilities and creativity.
Wouldn’t you want to be a person who always wants to know and learn more?
Not only that, your peers, teachers, and others will look up to you. Knowledge is power. So, keep on seeking knowledge.
Always have the eagerness to learn something new. It could be related to what you want to do or unrelated.
We should keep on learning new skills to keep ourselves updated with the challenging world ahead of us.
Positive Trait #6 – Great Listener
Everyone has something to share about themselves. Listening is one of the ways to make friends.
By asking them questions and listening attentively to them, you gain a friend and their trust.
Listening is a skill by itself.
There are two types of listening; active and passive.
Active listening is what we should pick up. It just means that we listen and empathize with them on their situation. We are reacting to how the situation turns out.
Other than that, when we listen, we are learning from other people’s experiences.
There are so many benefits from listening to others which you have to experience yourself.
In a way, it broadens your mind and thinking because you are seeing it from another person’s point of view.
Positive Trait #7 – Forgiving
I don’t know you but, there are always cases in school about bullying. It could be verbal abuse or physical abuse.
And it’s upsetting when you can’t defend yourself.
After a while, you may hold grudges on that person. It will cause more harm than good over the long run. So, always forgive but never forget.
You don’t want to forget the mistakes others have made to you. Because if you let it slip, the same error will keep repeating. There will be no end to it.
By forgiving others, you are releasing the burden on your soul.
You are allowing the thing that is pulling you down all the years that you have kept to go away. As a result, it will give you a sense of freedom.
You are free and no longer tied down. And, it’s a liberating moment for you.
In conclusion, the seven positive traits of a person are perseverance, humility, open-mindedness, self-reflection, willingness to learn, great listener, and forgiving.
I urge you to develop a great character now. Everything that you do now will affect your life in the future.
Build a character that people will respect you for who you are and not what you are.
